Cork camogie also have their own facilities but other women s football and camogie sides rely on the GAA - a separate association - making their pitches available for games and training.
The drawbacks of this situation were made clear last month when the All-Ireland semi-final between Galway and Cork controversially ended up being changed twice and played at Croke Park at short notice. 
The only other women s inter-county senior team to have their own facilities are the Armagh footballers.
So far, they have put £120,000 of their own hard-raised funds into completing their pitch at McKeever Park, Killeen, and are now running a February Fitness Challenge  as they seek the funds to install floodlights. ....

And to aid the club in fitting out its new digs, a local businessman has generously agreed to turn over profits from the sale of his land to developers, with 70pc of the profits going to the association and 30pc going to the local Kilgobinet GAA club.
Edel Curry, secretary of Waterford LGFA field development sub-committee said: “This will be the first such freehold facility nationally and we firmly believe that it will be a key driver for the greater development of the entire area in terms of sporting, social and economic advancement. ....

Waterford Ladies Gaelic Football Association (WLGFA) have become the first ladies county football team to fully own their own grounds outright in Ireland after years of fundraising for an 11 acre site beside the Waterford Greenway on the edge of Dungarvan at Ballinroad. Work on the field is expected to commence by the summer and will consist of a state-of-the-art pitch with pitch side spectator stand, changing rooms, coach and car park and a full six lane running track around the perimeter of the pitch. The facilities will be available for use to all county and club teams in the Waterford LGFA across all grades and will mean that county players will no longer have to travel to different GAA fields around the county and not knowing where their next training session will be on a weekly an ....

Waterford have spent six years trying to achieve their goal
Waterford will become one of the few women s GAA teams in the country to own their own pitch outright when a new facility is built in Dungarvan.
The 11-acre site is perched beside the picturesque Waterford Greenway, and is the result of six years of behind-the-scenes graft.
Waterford s breakthrough comes just over a year after Armagh ladies got the green light to develop a ground at McKeever Park in Killeen, while Cork s Camogie Grounds in Mahon was opened back in 2012.
Speaking to RTÉ s Morning Ireland Edel Curry of the Waterford Ladies Gaelic Football Association detailed their journey to achieving a long-held ambition, airing her hope it will serve players in the county for generations. ....
