A portrait of Jacinda Ardern has been placed in a corridor in Parliament where artistic impressions of former Prime Ministers are put on display.
The portrait, an impression of the iconic photograph of Ardern wearing a hijab in the wake of the 2019 Christchurch terror attack, is located in the Whip s corridor in Parliament.
The Whip s corridor, where it currently hangs, is a traditional place for artistic portraits of Prime Ministers, as opposed to the official photo portraits which hang in the Speaker s Corridor, Gonzalez-Montero told Newshub. ....

Two more people have been arrested after an investigation into a gang shooting at a luxury hotel in Auckland CBD last month.
The Armed Offenders Squad was called to the Sofitel on the waterfront just after 9am on April 15, following reports a firearm had been discharged - though no one was injured in the incident.
In a statement, Detective Inspector John Sutton revealed police have charged a sixth and seventh person in relation to an ongoing investigation into the incident. ....

A video of police using excessive force to restrain a teenager in Taupō has outraged family and witnesses who say they are disgusted with officers behaviour.
A boy, who Newshub understands is 14 years old, was filmed as he was restrained by three officers outside Taupō Dairy on Ruapehu St on May 2. One officer puts their knee on the boy s neck while the other two put handcuffs on him. A bystander is heard shouting get off him . ....

The threat led to the evacuation of two ferries berthed in the Marlborough town, as well as the terminal buildings, while the search was undertaken on Monday.
The man will appear in the Blenheim District Court on Tuesday, charged with threatening to harm people and property.
On Monday afternoon, police confirmed the 33-year-old had been arrested in relation to the threat.
We appreciate today s incident caused considerable disruption and distress for many, Marlborough area commander Insp Simon Feltham said.
I would like to acknowledge our specialist search group staff, who flew from Wellington to complete an extensive search of both the terminal buildings and ferries, and the investigation team, who identified and located the alleged offender. ....
