Donna Lee didn't forget about 'The Sailor'

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. We found her – right before her family found me.
Faithful readers of this column will recall the story of little Donna Lee Vigil, who was 3 when she survived a near-drowning in the Santa Fe River on May 5, 1958, because of the heroism of Glen Malin, a 44-year-old World War II Navy veteran.

......................
When others arrived to help, he slipped away before anybody could get his name. His identity might have never been known had his boss not contacted the newspaper for what became a front-page story. ....

The discussion leading up to the vote featured public comment from members of the OHV operators community and was tense at times as the council worked to clarify the ordinance’s interaction with existing state law on the issue.
Councilor Justin Salazar-Torres presented ordinance 2021-01, which has progressed through the Public Safety Committee and was advertised on March 18. The title of the ordinance allows all-terrain vehicles, but that was struck from the language of the law to only allow OHVs, which are operated with a steering wheel and non-straddled seating similar to cars or trucks. ....
