Henderson Co. eyes raises for jail staff; approves starting pay hike

HENDERSON, Ky. A critical staffing shortage at the Henderson County jail prompted magistrates to raise starting salaries and promises increases to veteran employees in the near future.
During Tuesday s meeting of the Henderson County Fiscal Court, Jailer Amy Brady presented a plan to increase the base salary to around $15 and then a bump to $16 after a person has been employed for six months.
Brady, who had discussed the hiring crisis at a recent budget workshop, said the plan also included raises for seasoned staffers, some of whom she says have been working 12-hour shifts for 11 and 12 days straight to cover the needs of the facility. ....
