CAPE TOWN - Another police brutality case has been in court.
The magisterial inquest into the death of Solomon Nengwane while in custody in the North West in 2006 was on Tuesday postponed to next month.
AfriForum s private prosecution unit was acting on behalf of his family against eight police officers who were holding the deceased in custody at the time of his death.

The National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) says it has instructed AfriForum s Gerrie Nel to institute an appeal after National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise animal cruelty case was dismissed in the Potchefstroom Magistrate s Court. Animals suffered and died on Ms Modise s farm; that is why we approached the courts, NSPCA executive director Marcelle Meredith said in a statement. The NSPCA has instructed Mr Nel and the legal team of AfriForum to appeal the judgment handed down by the Potchefstroom Magistrate s Court.

National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise says she s going to stay on her farm and make it a success without the help of white people.

Modise says she’s not selling her farm nor rely on “a white man as a farm manager” to make it a success.
Modise has been acquitted of six animal cruelty charges by the Potchefstroom Reginal Court due to a lack of evidence.
The National Council of SPCAs has since indicated that the judgment will be appealed.
The case against Modise stems from the animal welfare’s visit to her farm in the North West in 2014 where they found several starving animals and carcasses of animals that had died of starvation.

Modise faced six counts of animal cruelty after animals died on her North West farm in 2014.
The court dismissed all charges against Modise.
