Bradford County DA sex charges: Chad Salsman sentenced to Pa. prison


Chad Salsman, the former Bradford County District Attorney in Pennsylvania who pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution and obstruction of justice charges, will spend up to five years in a state prison.
The sentencing Friday in Bradford County Court came after Salsman pleaded guilty in May to a felony count of promoting prostitution, along with misdemeanor counts of intimidation of victims and obstruction of justice. Salsman will spend at least 1½ years behind bars, followed by 72 months of supervised release whenever he gets out of prison.
Salsman, who resigned after pleading guilty, was arrested in early February after a year-long investigation by Pennsylvania State Police, who built their case on stories from five accusers, most of whom claimed Salsman assaulted them on his law office desk in lieu of his legal fees. ....

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court will not hear an appeal filed by the Tribune-Review seeking to make public the names of jurors who failed to reach a verdict in the 2018 public corruption trial of former Westmoreland County Sheriff Jonathan Held.
In a one-sentence order, the state’s high court denied the Trib’s effort to appeal a Superior Court ruling that upheld the decision by Common Pleas Judge Timothy Creany, a visiting senior judge from Cambria County who presided over what resulted in a mistrial. He ordered juror names to remain sealed pending Held’s retrial or resolution of the charges. ....
