An Ohsweken program aimed at reducing sexual violence is one of six Ontario programs to win one of this year’s Victim Services Awards of Distinction.

Agriculture must be handled by women as they would ensure food security of the nation through sustainable and environment-friendly practices, said Sheelu Francis, facilitator of Tamil Nadu Women’s Collective.
She was addressing a webinar on ‘One Billion Rising’, a campaign against violence against women and children, which was organised by EKTA Resource Centre for Women and other institutions.
Ms. Francis said women produced food through organic methods to feed her family. On the other hand, men focussed on earning money and hence produced food using fertilisers. “So, it is important that women have their own land to undertake agriculture,” she said. ....

Maiden 'Mahila Jan Sunwai' Held In Srinagar

SRINAGAR- To listen to the complaints of the women of Kashmir Valley, who have been victims of domestic violence, a first ever Mahila Jan Sunwai Programme was held at Banquet Hall here today.
The proceedings of the Jan Sunwai programme were conducted under the chairmanship of Chairperson National Commission for Women (NCW), Rekha Sharma. Counselor, NCW was also present on the occasion.
The programme was organized by the National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with the State Resource Centre for Women, Department of Social Welfare J & K.
During the Sunwai, as many as 85 cases pertaining to different complaints filed by women of different parts of Kashmir division were heard by the Chairperson NCW. On the occasion, 12 accused were presented in person before the Chairperson during Jansunwai on the spot to mitigate the cases, while rest of cases were taken up with the concerned authorities for their time bound disposal. ....
