Mediacorp nabs former Viu content chief Virginia Lim as Doreen Neo takes new role Details 22 July 2021
Mediacorp has made changes to its chief content officer role as Doreen Neo moves to the position of chief talent officer to oversee all talent management and practices across Mediacorp, and Virginia Lim takes on the new role.
Lim was previously the chief content officer at regional streaming platform Viu, where she was responsible for all content strategies, production of original series and content investments across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa. She has more than 26 years of experience in the media industry, across functions, from managing P&L to operations, advertising, distribution, content, production, and marketing.
Over-the-top (OTT) video streaming service Viu has revealed another Viu Original after launching a new Korean drama.
“Doom at Your Service,” its second Korean Viu Original, premiered on May 10 starring actress Park Bo-young and actor-singer Seo In-guk.
The drama tells the story of Dong Kyung (Park Bo-young), a web novel editor diagnosed with brain cancer, who unintentionally summons Myul Mang (Seo In-guk), a messenger between humans and gods to appear. When he unexpectedly offers to grant her wishes, she makes a contract with him for a hundred days to live as she wants, risking everything in the process.
After “Doom at Your Service,” Viu will release its next Viu Original from Korea, “Hong Cheon Gi,” a romantic fantasy period drama set to premiere exclusively on the OTT platform in the third quarter of the year.

Hot on the heels of launching a slate of Korean dramas including simulcast, first-on-platform and exclusive series, PCCW’s pan-regional OTT video streaming service Viu has unveiled a new slew of original content not only from Korea but also Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and South Africa.
At the head of the new offer is Viu Original Hong Cheon Gi, a romantic fantasy period drama set to premiere exclusively on the OTT platform in the third quarter. Based on a novel of the same name, it tells the story of Hong Cheon Gi (Kim Yoo Jung), an artist with aesthetic insight and skills who became the first female painter of the Dohwaseo (Korean Royal Academy of Painting). During her stay in the palace, she gets embroiled in a love triangle with Ha Ram (Ahn Hyo Seop), an officer well-versed in astronomy and meteorology who lost his sight in a childhood accident, and the Grand Prince Anpyeong (Gong Myung) who is an arts enthusiast.

The mad scramble by Asian streamers and broadcasters to secure Korean TV drama content continued with the announcement by Viu that it is poised to deliver another original series.
The Hong Kong-based pan-Asian streamer is poised to release period romantic drama “River Where the Moon Rises” on Feb. 15, 2021. In Korea, it will be broadcast by KBS2 from the same date.

“River Where the Moon Rises” is produced by established South Korean production house Victory Contents. The series is directed by Yun Sang Ho (“Kingmaker: The Change of Destiny,” “Saimdang, Memoirs of Colors”) will direct from a screenplay by Han Ji Hoon (“Temptation,” “Women of 9.9 Billion”).
