I was born three weeks before Pearl Harbor and i did not meet my father until the end of 1945 when he came home from service. He and five of his brothers wore the uniform in World War ii and four of my mothers brothers. So we were heavily invested in that war, and my earliest memories are of living in houses full of frightened women looking out the window for the telegraph boy. You know, they were all of these uncles and aunts were young couples, they had maybe one or two kids. The war broke out and then the father is gone and hes gone mostly for the duration of the war. So we my mother and i lived between her Mothers House and the little town of mar kate, texas, and his Mothers House in the little town of franklin, texas, which was 28 miles away. We would ride the bus between those two. My mother was pretty good at figuring out when we had worn out our welcome in one place and we moved to

Things that a 14yearold doesnt usually get to do, so yeah. Absolutely. And the flexibility, being a military child, you know, from birth till now, for the 14 years that sydneys been with us, it has been absolutely amazing. We just we try to remain flexible. We try to prepare any time we can. Were always looking ahead, what do we need for this week so we can knock those barriers down so that were ready when the day comes and we can be flexible. Honestly we laugh a lot, we joke a lot because it helps us get through, and we definitely try to stay in touch with one another as often as we can. We try to talk to dad any time he can. He and sydney since he left, they have a weekly Skype Session with Each Other where they sit and talk with Each Other. Thats been absolutely amazing, especially when youre a teenage girl, being that connected with your dad. And so thats been really wonderful. Thats amazing. Well, hes on a combat tour.
