Approved early last year, the plan envisions 22,000 new apartments and condos going up along proposed bus rapid transit routes over the coming decades, a sizeable portion of all new infill development.
“It’s safe to say there’s significant opposition to this proposal,” Theresa Kirkpatrick, who owns two properties adjacent to the planned development, told the municipal planning commission on Tuesday. ....

Last weekend, was Bo the Boxerâs 10th birthday. David and Danielle Sherin took her out for a special birthday walk, and came back to their home in Saskatoonâs Varsity View neighborhood.
Bo (short for Higgs boson â owner Danielle is a medical physicist), canât walk without the help of a specially designed wheelchair. After her walk, the Sherins took the wheelchair off, and left it on their front porch.
âWe were going to clean it off. It had some snow on it,â said Danielle. âWe got busy making supper. We left it there for a few hours and then when we went to take it back in, it was gone.â ....

BlackRock making second attempt to rezone Main Street property for condos

A local infill developer is taking another stab at rezoning two properties in Varsity View for a condominium complex six years after abandoning its initial attempt, which met opposition from people living nearby.
BlackRock Developments Ltd. wants to build the four-storey, 26-unit complex on Main Street, immediately southwest of its intersection with Cumberland Avenue. The land is currently occupied by two older houses.
