The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Tuesday 227 new deaths, including two additional deaths at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, and 3,353 new cases of COVID-19 countywide, with 24,901 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
To date, Public Health identified 1,152,239 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 18,360 deaths. There are 4,079 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 29% of these people are in the ICU.
Of the 227 new deaths reported Tuesday, 66 people who passed away were over the age of 80, 95 people who died were between the ages of 65 and 79, 51 people who died were between the ages of 50 and 64, and four people who died were between the ages of 30 and 49. Eight deaths were reported by the city of Long Beach and three deaths were reported by the city of Pasadena. ....

SCV News | Thursday COVID-19 Roundup: Public Health Warns of Another Surge; 24,410 Total SCV Cases


The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Thursday 239 new deaths and 5,028 new cases of COVID-19, with 24,410 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
To date, Public Health identified 1,134,338 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 17,539 deaths. There are 4,990 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 27% of these people are in the ICU. A month after the winter holidays, the County continues experiencing the deadly toll of the holiday surge, reporting daily deaths over 200 people.
Of the 239 new deaths reported Thursday, 78 people who passed away were over the age of 80, 82 people who died were between the ages of 65 and 79, 49 people who died were between the ages of 50 and 64, 12 people who died were between the ages of 30 and 49, and two people who died were between the ages of 18 and 29. Fifteen deaths were reported by the city of Long Beach and one death was reported by the City of Pasadena. ....

COVID-19 case rates decline; Red tier still off in distance


 
El Dorado County officials the last two days reported 143 new coronavirus cases, including eight residents from the Lake Tahoe region.
In the county, there were four total deaths reported on Wednesday and Thursday. Three are from the greater Placerville area and the other is from Carmeron Park/Shingle Springs pushing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 85.
The county remains in the purple tier of the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy with the adjusted case rate at 22.7 on Wednesday and 17.4% on Thursday and a positivity rate of 7.7% and 5.6%, respectively.
For the county to be eligible to move into the red tier, the adjusted case rate must be at seven or below, so it appears the county has significantly more progress to make before restrictions are lifted, even with the adjusted case rate dropping daily. ....
