Gun violence Published: 3/1/2021 9:12:54 AM This Black History Month, I attended a Feb. 7 Massachusetts-wide virtual event marking National Gun Violence Survivors Week. This event was produced by the Massachusetts chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. A year ago, the Western Massachusetts group of Moms Demand met Juanita Batchelor at a peace march in Springfield. Juanita’s son Darrell Jenkins was killed by a gun wielding shooter on June 4, 2014. The homicide remains unsolved. Juanita has founded MORE (Mothers Overlooking, Reaching Out, Empowerment) an organization seeking justice for the numerous unsolved homicides in Springfield and providing services to survivor families. All these families are African American. ....
