Somerset County expands vaccination program to more school districts
SOMERVILLE - Somerset County is expanding its program to vaccinate students against COVID-19.
The county started the program in Green Brook and has added Bernards, Franklin, North Plainfield, South Bound Brook, Watchung, Watchung Hills Regional, and Warren school districts.
The program began last week in Green Brook where more than 150 residents between 12 and 18 were vaccinated.
This week will see South Bound Book, North Plainfield, and Franklin schools hosting clinics, and next week will see Watchung, Warren, Watchung Hills and Bernards schools vaccinating students.
The Somerset County Department of Health will return three weeks from each clinic to provide the second dose.

Three people were in custody after a shooting that injured a motorcyclist on Route 287 in Somerset County Sunday, authorities said.
The man called police from a parking lot on Chimney Rock Road in Bridgewater, saying he was riding southbound on the highway when he was shot at around 6:40 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Alejandro Goez said.
The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Goez said.
Meanwhile, the suspect vehicle was located and stopped by local police on Route 22 in North Plainfield, the sergeant said.
The three male occupants of the vehicle were arrested by responding troopers, according to Goez.

A driver on a motorcycle said gunmen in a van shot at him on southbound Route 287 early Sunday evening, according to State Police.
The motorcyclist exited Route 287 and called police after pulling off of Chimney Rock Road just north of Route 22, State Police spokesman Alejandro Goez told New Jersey 101.5. The driver was hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries.
The van was stopped by North Plainfield police on Route 22 and the three men inside were arrested by State Police.
Matthew Plaza, 32, of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Luis Velez, 37, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; and Raymond Bethancourt, 35, of Shillington, Pennsylvania, were charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a high capacity magazine, possession of weapons for unlawful purposes, manufacturing, distributing or dispensing drugs and conspiracy to commit murder.

The motorcyclist got off the highway at exit 14 and stopped at a parking lot on 362 Chimney Rock Road in Bridgewater before calling the police.
