The smoke could be seen and smelled across the bay area. And officials are saying that the air quality all the way down to near the south bays taking a hit. The fire started around 5. 30, last night at the ships are steel scrap metal facility. That is right near the port of oakland, massive plumes of smoke could be seen across the bay in crews worked overnight to get control of the fire. Some good news. Nobody was injured and the fire is not threatening any structures. The exact cause remains under investigation. Tonight.
