Smith Twp. trustees honor Ken O Brock s park efforts

Smith Township trustees awarded their Outstanding Citizenship award Wednesday night to Ken O Brock.
During the monthly meeting, Trustees David Mannion and Scott Showalter presented O Brock with the award in recognition of O Brock s unselfish dedication to serve the residents of North Benton, Ohio, trustees said in a news release.
The award was given in gratitude of his exceptional generosity in furthering the welfare of our Township through the construction of a pavilion addition to the Township Park in North Benton, the release said. This park was made possible through the generosity of Ken and Sharen O Brock. The use of the Pavilion is open to anyone, and to reserve the facility for a special occasion, please call Marty Lockridge at 330-341-0863. ....

Benton County Historical Society
Gust Pilantz built the brick 2 story building in 1912 and used it for a furniture store.
Over the years its other uses have been a bakery, Kurr theater, Lyric theater, a grocery, Cozy theater, Perry Auto Repair shop and in 1938 Lee Batcheler purchased the building and it was turned into the print shop for Sauk Rapids Sentinel, which then became the Sauk Rapids Herald newspaper building. ....
