Copper Pony Finalizes Plan to Move to Sauk Rapids

Josh Hoffman have announced on Facebook they are moving into the vacant building on the corner of North Benton Drive and Second Street North.
The building used to be an O Reilly s AutoParts store, but has sat vacant for a number of years.
The move is expected to happen this summer.
The new location will have a coffee shop and kitchen with baked goods, sandwiches, soups, and other food items.
The Copper Pony opened in downtown St. Cloud
four years ago. They say they are moving because they ve outgrown their current space on St. Germain Street. ....

Mansfield Fire At Corner Of West 4th And North Benton

The Mansfield Fire Department responded to a call late Wednesday night at the corner of West 4th and North Benton Street. Fire fighters arrived to heavy smoke and were able to get the fire under control with no injuries reported.
The home is believed to be vacant according to the fire department. A homeless man, who told officials he sometimes stays there, was able to get out safely. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Teacher’s trial
RAVENNA The trial for a West Branch teacher accused of sexual contact with a minor has been delayed again.
The criminal pretrial and jury trial for Matthew Thomas, 51, Wagner Road, North Benton, were both continued in Portage County court after a member of his household tested positive for Covid-19. The pretrial, which was set for Wednesday, is now scheduled for March 23 while the jury trial has been moved to April 6. The pretrial and jury trial were delayed in November, as well.
Thomas, a longtime soccer coach and history teacher at West Branch High School, was indicted by the Portage County grand jury in September on two counts of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony. He is accused of having sexual contact with a 10-year-old female over the first week of May 2015. The incident was not school-related, according to court officials. ....
