JANESVILLE, Wis. The City of Janesville has canceled its winter weather emergency.
Thanks for your cooperation as we prepared for this winter weather event. Since snow did not accumulate in the evening as much as predicted, our crews have wrapped up their operations of keeping the main roads safe, and the winter weather emergency is no longer in effect. pic.twitter.com/xySvS1Hmta
The City finished clearing snow at around 1:30 Friday morning, and said the emergency was no longer needed.
City officials had asked residents to move their vehicles before 10 p.m. Thursday to avoid getting a parking ticket. Anyone who parked on the street during the winter weather emergency faced a $50 fine.
JANESVILLE
The city of Janesville has declared a winter weather emergency for Saturday as city plow crews prepare for what might be the first significant snowfall of the season.
According to a release, a winter weather emergency in Janesville is in effect starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Snow plowing was expected to be finished late Saturday evening.
Forecasters say a band of weather could bring a wintry mix of 2 inches to 5 inches of snow, slush and ice through southern Wisconsin as rain turns to snow overnight Friday and into Saturday.
The city is preparing for a citywide plowing operation, with city plow crews gearing up for possible snow and ice accumulations of up to 4 inches overnight.
