Husk has some exciting news for rum and gin lovers

Husk Distillers began as a rum distillery, nestled among cane fields in North Tumbulgum.
It was their innovative colour-changing Ink Gin that launched them into serious fame, but they’re getting back to their roots with their newest release.
Husk Botanic is, like their other rums, a cane-based spirit, but in gin-like style it’s infused with botanicals including grapefruit peel, native lemon myrtle and strawberry gum leaves.
Husk Distillers are about to launch a new spirit, Husk Botanic.
On the distillery’s website, the makers say the spirit has “botanicals layered through it, a sweet and zesty contemporary spirit that will challenge your perception of white rum and possibly even convert gin lovers to the rummier side of life”. ....

Council begins clean up work, water restrictions in place

TWEED Shire Council s Stotts Island tip is closed today.
The facility opened briefly this morning but has generally been closed this week due to flooding.
A
severe thunderstorm warning is in place for parts of the Northern Rivers including the Tweed and Byron Shires.
The council has advised:
The council is working with the Tumbulgum community to restore sewerage services
Water is being tankered to Uki because of disruptions to the village water supply
The tip is closed today
Household bins will be collected if the trucks can access. If your bins aren t collected - leave them out and the council will come back as soon as they can. ....

â¢ Tweed Valley Way to the north at Mohomad s corner in the vicinity of Stotts Island is
closed
â¢ Terranora Road in North Tumbulgum may close
Storm and flood impacts may interrupt essential services such as electricity, phones, internet,
water and sewerage.
The Bureau of Meteorology said in a new Moderate Flood Warning the Tweed River catchment had received heavy rainfall over the past two hours.
However heavy rainfall rates are still observed in nearby parts of Queensland, and rainfall rates in the Tweed may reintensify for periods during the afternoon, the bureau said.
River level rises have been observed at Boat Harbour, with smaller rises observed at Murwillumbah Bridge. ....
