Juniata County officials discuss service grants | News, Sports, Jobs

Mifflintown – During a brief meeting Tuesday the Juniata County commissioners ratified the receipt of the Juniata County Rights and Services Act (RASA) and Victims of Juvenile Offenders (VOJO) Services Grant application sub-grant in the amount of $79,144.00 as submitted by Sylvia Middaugh, Victim Witness Program Coordinator.
The funds provided by the RASA and VOJO program are to support the carrying out of responsibilities assigned to Prosecution and Juvenile Probation under the Crime Victims Act (Act 85 of 2002), the Juvenile Act and Pennsylvania’s Rules of Juvenile Court Procedure.
The goal of RASA and VOJO funding is to ensure that victims of crimes committed by adult and juvenile offenders, whose cases are processed within the criminal and juvenile justice systems, receive all the rights and services to which they are entitled under law. Juniata Co. approves housing service contract | News, Sports, Jobs

MIFFINTOWN Tuesday the Juniata County Commissioners unanimously carried a motion to approve an agreement between the Juniata Valley Tri-County Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission and the county on behalf of Mifflin-Juniata Human Services to provide housing navigation services. The contract is for a maximum amount of $21,195 and subject to the availability of federal, state and local funds.
Also during the meeting the commissioners approved the Pennsylvania Farmland Preservation “Certification of County Funds” for the 2021 program year. This motion was also unanimously carried by the commissioners.
The following action was also taken:
¯ Acknowledged an increase to the Federal Fiscal Year 2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in the amount of $25.00 increasing the total grant from $235,185 to $235,210 and approve increasing the 2020 CDBG allocation to Oakland Mills Sewer project by $25. ....

Virus testing site to be set up in Juniata Co. | News, Sports, Jobs

MIFFLINTOWN–The Juniata County Commissioners announced yesterday that a COVID-19 testing site will be at the Central Juniata EMS building in Mifflintown. The testing will take place from December 27th until 3 p.m. on December 31st. The testing site will accept medical insurance. Those without medical insurance can still be tested at no cost. “We’re pretty excited that Juniata County will have a testing site so we encourage that folks take advantage of that.” commissioner Alice Gray said.
Also during the meeting the commissioers reappointed three to the Juniata County Agricultural Land Preservation Board of Directors effective January 1, 2021 as recommended by Christopher B. Snyder, Program Administrator. ....
