Juniata County officials adopt 2021 tax hike | News, Sports, Jobs

MIFFLINTOWN During a brief meeting Tuesday, the Juniata County Commissioners formally adopted the 2021 budget of $12,712,720.83 that includes a real estate tax increase.
The budget raises the real estate millage rate to 25 mills, up from 22.75 mills. It is the first increase to the millage rate since 2009.
One mill is equivalent to $1 per $1,000 of assessed property value. That means a Juniata County property valued at $50,000 would see a tax increase next year of $112.50.
The commissioners also urged the public to take advantage of a drive-through COVID-19 testing site that is coming to Juniata County beginning Sunday and running through Dec. 31. ....

Virus testing site to be set up in Juniata Co. | News, Sports, Jobs

MIFFLINTOWN–The Juniata County Commissioners announced yesterday that a COVID-19 testing site will be at the Central Juniata EMS building in Mifflintown. The testing will take place from December 27th until 3 p.m. on December 31st. The testing site will accept medical insurance. Those without medical insurance can still be tested at no cost. “We’re pretty excited that Juniata County will have a testing site so we encourage that folks take advantage of that.” commissioner Alice Gray said.
Also during the meeting the commissioers reappointed three to the Juniata County Agricultural Land Preservation Board of Directors effective January 1, 2021 as recommended by Christopher B. Snyder, Program Administrator. ....
