Chris Suggs Michael Martin file for Kinston City Council seats


In April 2019, Suggs represented his community and state when he testified before Congress in a hearing on the global climate crisis. Kinston and surrounding areas in Eastern North Carolina have been devastated by several floods and hurricanes in recent years, and Suggs has been on the frontlines helping his community respond to these disasters and advocating for funding and legislation to address climate change and flood mitigation, according to the release.
Suggs earned degrees in Political Science & Religious Studies from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he served as President of the Black Student Movement and Senior Class President for his graduating class. ....

UMO board appoints new trustees


MOUNT OLIVE — The University of Mount Olive board of trustees recently appointed five new members to its 30-member board.
The new members include Pam Hardison Braxton of Deep Run, Paula Coates of Benson, Sylvia Herring of Benson, Borden Franklin “Frankie” Howell Jr. of Goldsboro, and Robert Wilkerson of Greenville. The members will serve a six-year term, except for Herring, who is filling an unexpired term for the next two years, said Rhonda Jessup, UMO director of public relations.
The board of trustees is UMO s governing body that has made decisions for the university that have shaped the growth of the institution through the years, Jessup said. ....
