Incumbents Robert Sitton and Martina Lemond Dixon retained their seats while newcomers Ken Kirchhofer and Chris Parker were elected. Approximately 9,000 votes were cast in the election, which is equivalent to a low 7 percent turnout. The newly elected board members will be sworn in next month. “Board members are scheduled to take the oath of office at the school board meeting on June 8,” said Jamie Mount, chief communications officer for Humble ISD.

Janie Branham Tell me about your background, occupation, etc. I am a career educator and certified teacher who has extensive experience in teaching, management and fundraising in public schools. After 27 years, I retired to raise my children. However, in August, with COVID-19 causing a teacher shortage, I was called to come out of retirement to teach full time and I accepted the call. I am currently teaching secondary school in both face-to-face and virtual formats.

The reports are for the initial period ending March 31. State law dictates reports must be filed 30 days before the election and again eight days before the vote. All the reports may be found on the Humble ISD website under the “school board” tab. Several running have amassed significant sums while most of the 19 running have received much less or no money at all. Chris Parker, candidate for the open seat Pos. 3, collected the highest amount of donations, $12,910.60. Robert Sitton, the incumbent running for Pos. 1, garnered the second highest with $11,952.04.
