5 charged with election fraud in DuPage County

Five people are accused of committing fraud during the November election in DuPage County, authorities said.
Darrick Kent, 43, and Amy Kent, 41, of Austin, Texas, have been charged with perjury for saying they had lived in DuPage for at least 30 days before the election, when they had not, according to the state s attorney s office.

Three others are accused of trying to cast ballots for someone other than themselves.
Adam P. Butler, 51, of Lisle, is charged with forgery and perjury. Thomas E. Wojciechowski, 73, of Carol Stream, is charged with perjury. Colleen A. Kirchoff, 60, of Naperville is charged with perjury and two counts of forgery. ....

No need to leave home to find the perfect wedding venue. The DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau will host a Virtual Wedding Showcase from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14, inviting brides, grooms and planners to explore the many wedding services and venues in DuPage County.

The Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service named Downers Grove resident Kurt Mohr as Volunteer of the Week for March 8, 2021.
Mohr is the quintessence of a volunteer who gives for all the right reasons.

After successfully completing Literacy Volunteers of Illinois required training in September 2019, he started volunteering for the Jump Start tutoring program. He works with incarcerated youth at Illinois Youth Center-Warrenville. Mohr started out committing to 2 hours a week, but he enjoyed the experience so much he then signed on to 4 hours weekly. Now he is serving as an AmeriCorps member, tutoring the youth at IYC-Warrenville 10 hours a week. ....

On Wednesday, March 10, Eighth Blackbird, a four-time Grammy Award-winning Chicago-based music ensemble, will showcase sax player and composer Nick Zoulek in a livestream concert at 7 p.m. CT.
This concert is part of the Eighth Blackbird s Chicago Artists Workshop livestream concert series.

Zoulek s performance will feature solo performance of his compositions with collaborative films from his debut 2016 album, Rushing Past Willow, plus new works from his upcoming project, Enter Branch. The Forest Preserves of Cook County is offering Sap s Rising at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through March 21, at the River Trail Nature Center, 3120 Milwaukee Ave. in Northbrook. Walk in the sugar maple forest to learn about the sweet process of maple syrup making. All participants are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing.
