Three Livingston County projects have been included among ten submitted by Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin for possible federal funding.
Last week, the 8th District Democrat said that of the 58 projects that had been submitted to her office from across the district, she was recommending ten of them for submission to the House Appropriations Committee for possible inclusion in the annual spending bill Congress will vote on for the upcoming fiscal year.
Among the ten projects is a $10.5 million proposal from the Brighton Area Fire Authority to fund construction of a Headquarters facility. In its application, the Authority noted that the current building âno longer meets the needs of the Brighton communityâ due to its age and needed repairs.

A proposal for engineering services related to the rehabilitation of the Hay Creek Bridge on the Lakeland Trail in Hamburg Township has been approved.
The bridge was originally built as a train bridge in the late 1800âs and now serves as a pedestrian/maintenance access bridge for the Lakeland Trail. The existing walking surface and guardrails are in need of replacement. At a virtual board meeting last month, members voted to approve the engineering proposal at a fixed fee of $14,000.
Supervisor Pat Hohl told the board five years ago, they identified a serious need to address the decking on the Mike Levine Trail Bridge west of Chambers Road over Hay Creek, noting the structure is good but the decking is bad.

The plan articulates the vision for parks and recreation in the township and aims to guide recreation planning and development efforts over the next five-year period. The township board met virtually Wednesday night and adopted the plan following a public hearing in which four people spoke, commending the township for its efforts â especially when it comes to continuing trail development and connections. A review and comment period has been underway and a survey was conducted. The plan has been on file at the township, links were included in a survey and it was available on the township website. It was noted that the township initially had two letters related to trails but then received an additional 12 letters of support for continuing t
