MacLeod promising review of Ottawa lockdown after two weeks

Speaking on CTV Morning Live on Tuesday, MacLeod said she heard from Watson early Monday morning and relayed his frustration to Premier Doug Ford.
I did ask, at the request of our mayor, if we could look at areas like Ottawa and other parts of eastern Ontario and review the cases over a two-week period and the premier agreed, MacLeod said. We made a decision as a cabinet that we would continue to look at this. I think that was a positive win for the city of Ottawa and for our mayor.

PETS at Home in Greenock are hosting a winter fundraising appeal for a local animal rescue.
The store at the Waterfront retail park have been supporting Royalheart Greyhound Rescue this year to help alleviate the pressure of the Covid-19 pandemic.
While normal fundraising activities haven t been able to take place, volunteers have been struggling to pay for vet fees and food for the dogs they care for.
Lesley Roberts, a fundraiser for the rescue, said: We haven t been able to get out and fundraise as we normally would so the dogs have not been out to meet their admirers.
It s also been very hard to rehome the dogs as few people want to take a dog on when the future is so uncertain. ....

Sawh alleges Medical Board 'biased,' wants complaints quashed

SAN Fernando-based doctor Dr Avinash Sawh is complaining of apparent bias on the part of the council of the Medical Board.
On Tuesday, Sawh s attorney Martin George wrote to Dr Lesley Roberts, acting president of the board, accusing the council of descending into the arena by actively seeking and encouraging complaints to be filed against his client.
“Such acts deprive the council of all appearance of fairness, impartiality, objectivity and neutrality in these matters,” George charged as he gave the council until December 22 to say from whom it has solicited complaints. ....

The medical officer of health for the Eastern Ontario Health Unit is urging residents to be cautious this holiday season to help curb the spread of COVID-19 or more restrictions could be around the corner.
Speaking on Newstalk 580 CFRA s Ottawa at Work with Leslie Roberts , Dr. Paul Roumeliotis said the EOHU is at the upper end of the Orange-Restrict limits.
Our numbers in certain areas are higher than even the orange zone, he said. Overall, we re in the orange zone but certain pockets are higher, particularly when we have huge clusters of cases in a day, but we look at the overall trends and, right now, we re solidly in the upper limits of orange. ....
