Wrestling: NCAA Champion Nick Suriano Would Fill a Critical Gap in the Ohio State Lineup


NCAA champions don t hit the transfer portal every day, so when New Jersey standout and Rutgers grad Nick Suriano s name surfaced as a portal entrant earlier this week, it sent reverberations across the sport. The two-time national finalist and 2019 NCAA Champion is one of the most talented lightweights of his generation, and will be a huge injection of star power for whatever school lands him.
Sources close to Ohio State s wrestling program told Eleven Warriors there is mutual interest in bringing the four-time New Jersey high school champion to Columbus.
Suriano, who graduated from Rutgers in the spring and is the school s only NCAA wrestling champion, has spent the summer in the Southwest training with the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club at Arizona State. Student-Athletes Set to Earn Degrees Sunday

COLUMBUS, Ohio Sunday, 172 current and former Ohio State student-athletes will receive their Ohio State degrees. Spring commencement ceremonies, split into two sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., will be held in Ohio Stadium and streamed online HERE.
The complete list of athletics graduates can be found HERE.
Included among the graduates are seven who went through the department of athletics’ degree completion program. More than 220 former student-athletes have now earned their degree through the program.
Highlighting the 2021 degree completion grads are:
Bradley Roby, who is in his third season with the Houston Texans and his eighth in the National Football League after being drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by Denver. Roby’s degree is in communications. ....

Buckeyes Head to Big Ten Championships This Weekend


 
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Wrestling Championships are upon. The best wrestling conference in the country is set to put on a show this weekend in State College and the Buckeyes figure to be prominent players all weekend. In addition to 10 individual crowns, there are a total of 76 NCAA bids up for grabs. All four sessions will be televised on BTN as well as BTN Plus+.
Ohio State heads to State College this weekend seeking trophies at the Big Ten Championships.
The Buckeyes have had 55 individual Big Ten titles won by 34 different wrestlers.
As a team, the Buckeyes have won five Big Ten titles, including three of the last six. ....
