Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Dan Jacobs and his business partner ran three restaurants and a bakery and employed 97 people. Now, the Milwaukee-based enterprise is down to two restaurants DanDan and EsterEv 24 employees and less than half of the revenue generated from 2019 to 2020. “We’ve lost so much money,” Jacobs said. Wisconsin’s restaurant industry has been hard hit by the pandemic. It has earned sympathy from the governor’s office and has been the recipient of a patchwork of aid packages meant to offset revenue losses. But as restaurateurs head into a season that’s typically tough on the industry, some business owners are reasserting that they need more aid and guidance from the government. ....
