The 4A Women's State Meet was a fast one, as three State Meet Records fell by the wayside. In the team competition, the Olympic Women and Millbrook Men grabbed team championships at the 2021 1A State Track & Field Championships. Wednesday night s contest in northwest Raleigh wasn t a typical Millbrook-Leesville Road game in any sense. With a very limited number of attendees, the raucous environment these games typically attract was notably absent. So too was the drama and heightened tension that normally flows through these games, as Millbrook rolled to an 80-49 blowout win over over the crosstown rivals that knocked them out of last year s state playoffs and captured the conference title against them. The Pride fought hard in the first quarter, as Jalen McDonald hit a three-pointer and Chase Hakerem scored four early to keep the Pride within four of Millbrook after one. ....
