Saliba thanks supporters in Lewes

Kahlil Saliba May 17, 2021 The recent Lewes City Council and BPW elections reaffirmed that Lewes certainly faces quality of life challenges, but that we also have capable leaders and knowlegeable voices in our community.   There will be robust debate with diverse, passionate perspectives which, in my view, is necessary to make informed decisions.   I am optimistic we can all reason together and produce solutions for both the short- and long-term benefit of our community. The voters of Lewes had three city council candidates who offered various talents, skills and policy positions.  It was an engaging and energetic campaign, yet also a respectful one. Rob Morgan, Carolyn Jones and I discussed this on election day and agreed that we never felt like we were running “against” each other, but instead were making the case of why each of us had the right skill set and temperament to represent our wonderful town.

Thank you from Carolyn Jones

Carolyn E. Jones May 13, 2021 I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Lewes voters who chose to elect me to the Lewes City Council May 8.  I will do my very best to be worthy of your confidence.  A huge thank you also to the campaign workers and supporters who delivered and picked up signs, served as advisors, wrote letters, made calls, held events in their homes, made donations, served as challengers at the polls and were there for anything that needed to be done. A very special thank you and love go out to my spouse Frankie Bradshaw and to Marty D’Erasmo, Marylinda Maddi and Marty Yerick.  Without these four terrific people, this campaign could never have gotten off the ground - much less have been successful.

Find out who won in Lewes, Georgetown elections

Three new council members have been elected in two Sussex towns following elections on Saturday. In Lewes, newcomers Carolyn Jones and Khalil Saliba beat out incumbent Rob Morgan for two available seats. Jones received the most votes with 583, while Saliba received 538 and Morgan received 449. Lewes also held an election for the Board of Public Works. Four candidates ran for three seats. Two incumbents, Tom Panetta and Earl Webb, and one newcomer, Richard Nichols, beat out incumbent Robert Kennedy III. Webb received the most votes with 636. Panetta followed with 418 votes; Nichols, 414; and Kennedy, 407.  In Georgetown, Sue Barlow and Michael DiGiacoma ran a close race. Barlow won with 165 votes, while DiGiacoma received 159.

Make a plan to vote for Earl Webb May 8

Earl Webb May 7, 2021 Kristi and I have a son, and he’s been interested in politics since he was little.  He got actively engaged in politics in college, and has knocked on doors in Illinois, Massachusetts, Maine and Michigan.  He’s so proud that I’m running for a seat on the Lewes BPW.   The reason for this story is that he asked us what our plan was to vote in the recent presidential election.  We thought it was a strange choice of words.  He explained that having a plan to vote made it more certain people would go to the polls.  So, in my son’s words, I hope you make a plan to vote this Saturday.
