Putnam County leads Ohio with COVID-19 vaccination rates

While the county is smaller, nearly 16% of their population has received the vaccine.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ohio COVID-19 vaccine distribution is moving as fast as it s able to go across Ohio, but it s moving the fastest in Putnam County.
While the county is smaller, nearly 16% of their population has received the vaccine.
Putnam County Health Commissioner Kim Rieman says some of it has to do with where people work.
Some of that we cannot take all of the credit for, we have a good portion of healthcare providers that live in our community but actually provide health care in a hospital in maybe a surrounding county, said Rieman. ....

LIMA Rhodes State College is getting ready to launch new associate’s degrees in agriculture technology, surgical technology and laboratory science, as well as a slate of new certificates that can be earned in one year or less to meet industry demand for medical assistants, surgical technicians and other in-demand jobs.
Dr. Antoinette Baldin, the interim vice president of academic affairs for Rhodes State, on Tuesday told the college’s board of trustees that the proposed degrees are in high demand in Allen County and will offer the college an opportunity to retain more students looking to study at home for two years before transferring into a four-year program. ....

Grandparents are always bragging about their grandchildren. But in the case of Juniper Sharp, who turns 2 on Saturday, she really never ceases to amaze people.
“She had a full-blown open-heart surgery, with the broken chest and everything,” said her grandmother, Rita Krouskop. “And then a couple days later, she’s walking, and you can pick her up. It’s truly amazing.”
