Princeton recognizes advanced degree recipients in a time of ‘unprecedented challenges’ Denise Valenti, Office of Communications May 24, 2021 4:44 p.m. Princeton University’s graduate degree recipients and their mentors, family and friends gathered virtually on Monday, May 24, for the Graduate School’s 28th Hooding Ceremony. Many had also gathered in person on Sunday, May 16, for Princeton’s socially distanced Commencement, held for the first time at Princeton Stadium. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this was the second consecutive year in which the Hooding Ceremony was pre-recorded and broadcast online. The ceremony remains available for viewing. In a pre-recorded message, Cole Crittenden, deputy dean and acting dean of the Graduate School, praised Princeton’s advanced degree recipients for their achievements “under extraordinarily difficult circumstances.” ....
What better way to celebrate Asia Art Archive’s (AAA) 20th anniversary than throwing a party amid the green environs of the Hong Kong Country Club? As the organisation officially left its teenage years behind, more than 30 works donated by artists, collectors and galleries went under the hammer at a highly anticipated invite-only dinner and live auction. Pieces by Yayoi Kusama, Stanley Wong and Irene Chou were among those up for grabs, with all proceeds going to support AAA’s mission to fund education and research into contemporary art in Asia. “We are absolutely thrilled to be celebrating 20 years. This is an important milestone for us. We’re equally excited about the continued growth and dynamism of contemporary art in this part of the world and feel privileged to be part of this story,” said Benjamin Cha, co-chair of AAA. ....
