Lindbergh teacher at Sperreng honored as one of SSD's best – St. Louis Call Newspapers


Sperreng Middle School teacher Adam Taylor has been selected to receive a 2021 Key to the Classroom Award from Special School District, honoring his achievements and dedication for service to students. Taylor was nominated for the award by several parents of students in his class. 
The Key to the Classroom Award honors SSD’s top teachers throughout the St. Louis County district. Among the more than 2,700 teachers in the district, just 10 are selected for the prestigious honor. All Key to the Classroom Award winners are also considered for the 2021 SSD Teacher of the Year award. 
Taylor is a special education teacher for the Personalized Academic and Life Skills program (PALS). He has been serving Lindbergh Schools for eight years, first as a paraprofessional and for the past five years as a teacher. ....

Lindbergh's Crestwood Elementary might expand due to mall housing – St. Louis Call Newspapers


The new developers of the former Crestwood mall site, Dierbergs Market and McBride Homes, confirmed at the first meeting of the Crestwood TIF Commission Feb. 4 that they will not be seeking tax incentives for the McBride subdivision proposed for half the 47-acre site at Sappington and Watson roads. But the subdivision could add enough new students that Lindbergh Schools has to build an expansion onto Crestwood Elementary.
St. Louis County TIF Commission member Paul Hampel asked at the panel’s first meeting Feb. 4 how many people the new subdivision could add to Crestwood’s 11,865 existing residents.
McBride shared few details about the housing aspect of the redevelopment at the meeting, but Vice President of Real Estate Jeannie Aumiller said, “We’re still working on numbers and the layout and the design, so it would probably be premature to estimate at this time because we’re still in the due diligence process working on a lot of costs, and that will dictate the ....

Davis and Lieber are vying for Sunset Hills Ward 2 alderman


Marie Davis and Christine Lieber are vying to replace Sunset Hills Ward 2 Alderman Steve Bersche in the upcoming election April 6.
Davis, 73, 9405 Parklind Drive, is an entrepreneur who has been working with nonprofit companies. She spent 20 years as executive director for the JDRF Foundation and is a volunteer for several businesses.
Davis attended the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University to study business management for nonprofit organizations. For nine years, she was an adjunct professor in the University of Missouri and St. Louis Community College systems teaching entrepreneurship and other business courses.
She is the board president of the Southwest Area Chamber of Commerce, board secretary for the Sunset Hills Conservation Foundation and board member for the Mary Culver Home for Visually Impaired Women. ....

Missouri Teachers of the Year want K-12 community to get vaccinated immediately
“Our state’s teachers and support staff have faithfully risked their lives this year,” a letter says from Missouri’s 2017-2021 Teachers of the Year. It is addressed to Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Director Randall Williams and it presses him to let teachers and support staff get their coronavirus vaccinations immediately.

The letter is signed by Darrion Cockrell of Lindbergh Schools, Melissa Grandel of the Fordland School District, Shelly Parks of Francis Howell in St. Charles, Beth Davey of Ritenour Schools, and Darbie Valenti Huff of the St. Joseph School District. Three of them say they have been infected with the virus and say all cases are from likely exposures at school. ....
