A Pop-Up at Ayahuasca Cantina Celebrates the Battle of Puebla Through Cocktails There s the Cinco de Mayo that involves marg deals, and then there s truly honoring Mexican history. Los Tlacuaches does the latter yes, still with booze involved! By Rosin Saez Published in Food & Drink May 4, 2021 1:42 pm Jose Gonzalez doesn’t care much for “Cinco de Drinko” or any iteration of the marg-heavy holiday that doesn’t honor the history behind it. Appetizers worth dancing to Joey Casiano | Food Critic ………………. As I entered Las Almas Rotas on my recent visit, I immediately felt at home. There’s no host as you enter, which is refreshing; it feels more like you’re entering a friend’s house and making yourself at home. The bar area resembles a cantina one might see in a movie, and the bartenders immediately greeted me with a glass of water. Perhaps a few new hygiene habits could help us all stay healthier in the long run, which is certainly not a bad thing. But there was one sparkly item highlight on the reel that did help spread a bit of cheer: being able to order alcoholic beverages to-go along with dinner (or lunch, it s been a hard year). Bills filed in the Legislature to allow to-go booze after the pandemic ends are drawing bipartisan support, including from Gov. Greg Abbott Chief Revenue and Innovation Officer Anna Tauzin with the Texas Restaurant Association, who is lobbying for these bills, feels confident the measure will become law this session. In a recent meeting with Abbott, Tauzin said he too was excited about the measure. ....
