Pictures of a son carrying the body of his Covid positive mother to the cremation ground has brought netizens across the state to tears.
He was identified as Bir Singh, a resident of the Ranital area of Kangra district.
Bir Singh on Thursday had to carry his mother on his shoulders for about 1 km, as none of his relatives, district administration officials or villages, came forward to help.
Photos of Bir Singh wearing a PPE kit, carrying the body of his mother wrapped in PPE kits, surfaced on social media.
This incident has left people in shock. They have flayed the government for its failure to provide honest last rites to Covid deaths. This has also brought attention to the problems faced by people in cremating deceased corona positive people in the state. ....

JIND: A man hailing from Sangrur in Punjab on Tuesday alleged that Haryana police personnel stopped him and held up his vehicle in which he was carrying two oxygen cylinders for his kin, a COVID patient admitted in a hospital in Ghaziabad.
Rajendra Singh, the affected person, told reporters here that he was headed to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh from Dhuri village in Punjab s Sangrur when his car was stopped by the police at a checkpoint in Jind district around 11 pm on Monday. ....

Himachal drug control authorities today conducted raids at a pharma unit in Kangra district after a doctor was arrested yesterday for selling spurious Remdesivir injections in Indore, MP.
Sources said the MP drug control authorities conveyed to their Himachal counterparts that the arrested doctor had confessed that he sourced the spurious injections from a pharma unit in the Damtal area of Kangra district.
The production in the unit has been stopped and the authorities have seized its sale records. ....

HP board Class X, XII exams begin in the shadow of Covid

Amidst rising covid cases across the country, Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE) has become the first state education board in north region to hold offline Class X and XII examinations.
The offline board examinations for Class X and XII classes for HPBSE started today. As many as 2.25 lakh students of schools affiliated with HPBSE across the state appeared in their first offline examination in the entire year at centers set up across the state today.
The Chairman of the HPBSE, Suresh Soni while talking to The Tribune said examinations were conducted successfully across the state while taking precautions against Covid. All students who came for examination were thermal screened and it was ensured that every one wore a mask. ....
