BALTIC A familiar phrase regarding U.S. military personnel killed or wounded in action is all gave some, some gave all is especially true for the Miller family of Baltic. The family lost two of three brothers, Tobias Miller and Stephen Miller, in the second battle of Fort Wagner in South Carolina, July 18, 1863, during the American Civil War. The oldest of the three brothers, Isaac Miller survived the war and died in 1900. He reportedly brought the bodies of his brothers home to their final resting place in the Shutt-Berger (Church of the Brethren) Cemetery in Baltic. On Sunday, a ceremony was held unveiling headstones for the Millers, true brothers in arms, who served in the 67th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Co. C. The headstones were procured by Holmes County historian Forrest Chanay and Jeff Schrock of American Legion Post 494 in Sugarcreek, and provided by the Veterans Administration. ....

Headstones to be dedicated for three brothers who served in Civil War The cemetery is located on Clark Township Road 175. Tobias, Isaac and Stephen Miller all served in Company C, 67th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Tobias and Stephen were both killed in the second battle to take Fort Wagner, S.C., on July 18, 1863. This battle is made famous by the movie Glory. Isaac survived the war and lived in Holmes County until his death in 1900. Evelyn Ting of Brunswick Ga., and Rod MIller of Gettysburg, Pa., both descendants of Isaac, will participate in the event. It s very, very moving that there is a community of people who care this much to make sure veterans of whatever war are remembered, Ting said. I m pretty excited about it. ....
