HISD Board Hears Updates On New School Construction
The Hillsboro Independent School District (HISD) Board of Trustees met in regular session Monday, May 10, and heard updates on the new elementary school campus.
With 57 percent of the campus reported to be complete, Executive Director of Operations Raymond Nors said that the construction project is now primarily in the finishing stages.
Nors added that there is an extensive amount of finishing work that needs to be done. He also said that the utility meter has been installed and the campus is now on permanent power.
The budget for the project is $29,355,180 with $16,786,122 being completed or stored to date. ....

His devoted groom Laurie Williamson describes it as the Mayday Massacre and while that might be a shade unkind on Mill Reef and My Swallow, the 1971 2,000 Guineas was the first real clue that Brigadier Gerard would turn out to be one of the very best horses of the 20th century. 
The meeting of the three stars at Newmarket 50 years ago had been eagerly anticipated at Dick Hern s yard ever since Brigadier Gerard had won the Middle Park in 1970 to earn a mighty official rating of 131, although the betting for the Guineas revolved around Mill Reef and My Swallow, who were rated 132 and 133 respectively.  ....

When a friend texted her one morning last February with congratulations for being named among semifinalists for Best Chef: Texas in the annual James Beard Awards, Laurie Williamson typed her response: “I don’t think this [text] was for me.” Then the friend forwarded a link to an online story naming all semifinalists.
