New tech adds $635K to Mifflin County tax base | News, Sports, Jobs

LEWISTOWN An additional $635,000 in revenue will be added to Mifflin County’s tax base thanks to new imagery technology available through the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency which brings property records up to date.
Laura Simonetti, geographic information systems director for Mifflin County, explained during the Mifflin County Commissioners’ regular meeting that every resident’s property tax in the county has been updated and field verified.
Simonetti said the updates were a result of what she referred to as “operation fairness,” an effort which she said started in 2016 to ensure that everyone is “taxed thoroughly and paying fairly” according to the property they have. ....

New Kish Park security cameras to come to area | News, Sports, Jobs

LEWISTOWN- Derry Township Board of Supervisors received three quotes from different companies for new security cameras to be installed at Kish Park, in Lewistown. The decision was to go with KIT-Communications, a COSTAR vendor, for $18,987 and added on three options at $1,444 each. KIT-Communications will provide cameras as well as WiFi. The quote is for the complete project and supplies. This was approved during the regularly scheduled first Monday of the month’s Derry Township Board of Supervisors meeting.
Laura Simonetti, M.C. GIS Dept. attended the meeting to bring attention to a prior subject that has been put off due to COVID. There is a resolution in place to rename certain alleys and locations that currently do not have an official numbered/named address. There will be more information during the next meeting with more specifics. ....
