47abc February 19, 2021 LAUREL, Del.- Behind 28 points from Sophomore Dontarius Jones, the Laurel Bulldogs defeated Sussex Academy 66-44 to move to 4-4 on the year. Sussex Academy drops to 1-9 with the loss. Just four days ago, these two teams matched up in Georgetown and the Bulldogs won 68-47. Missing a few key starters for the rest of the season, the Bulldogs dropped three in a row but it seems like the new starters are finally starting to gel together. Sussex Academy looked like they were looking for revenge in the first quarter, only trailing by two, 10-8 to end the first quarter. After being tied at ten early in the second, the Bulldogs began to heat up. Four second quarter 3’s from Jones (18 points) and 12 points form big man Nifere Griffin, Laurel led 33-17 at the break. Tucker Anthony led the Seahawks with six points. ....
47abc February 4, 2021 DELAMR, Del.- Behind 20 points from Nifere Griffin, the Laurel Bulldogs defeated the Delmar Wildcats 64-60 to move to 2-1 on the year. The Wildcats fall to 3-2 on the season. Way back in week one of the season, the Bulldogs hosted Delmar and the Wildcats escaped with a two point, 50-48 win. Today, Laurel looked for a different ending. The Bulldogs flew out of the gate, a four point run to start the game but the Wildcats were able to keep it within two after the first quarter. The back and forth continued through the rest of the first half, Laurel took a one point lead into the halftime break. ....
Laurel wrestling powers through IR, starts the season 1-0 January 13, 2021 LAUREL, Del.- Behind five team pins in the match, Laurel Bulldogs wrestling defeated Indian River 48-30 to start the season 1-0. With the loss River falls to 0-1 to begin the year. After two IR forfeits in the 106 and 113 divisions, the Bulldogs began with a 12-0 advantage. In the first played match, IR’s Ian Shaubach got the pin to cut the lead to 12-6. Laurel would go on a run of victories from Cody Drummond (126), Xavier Limehouse (132) and Kyler Weaver (138) to make it a 24-6 lead. But after a few Bulldog forfeits and a River Vickers pin in the 160 pound division, it was a 24 point tie. ....
