While some optimism for a return to lacrosse is percolating, with occurrences like the Western Lacrosse Association announcing a summer schedule, leagues and tournaments continue to be felled by the pandemic.
The latest is the annual Ales Hrebesky Memorial in Radotin, Czech Republic. The tournament, which started over 25 years ago, is widely considered to be the premier club box lacrosse tournament in the world. It draws teams from all corners of the globe. But it won t be drawing anyone from anywhere this year. ....

GREAT FALLS â On Saturday afternoon, at the Great Falls Central Catholic High School gym, the Great Falls Lacrosse Club hosted a Learn To Play camp. While wearing masks and maintaining Covid guidelines, coaches and players of the Lacrosse Club taught the basics of the sport through fun, hands-on drills. The event was free for boys and girls ages 8 - 18.
âWe usually host one every year, but weâve always done it in like, August or September when the weatherâs better so we can be outside, and the problem is that itâs a spring sport so you get these kids excited to play in August or September, and then they have to wait until March to show up and actually get to do anything lacrosse-wise,â said President of the Board, Jeremy Comstock. ....

Finn Halladay, son of Del Halladay, will play field lacrosse at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Kyle Pepper, son of Grant Pepper, and Sylvi Jenner, daughter of Fred Jenner, will both play at St. Bonaventure in upstate New York.
“It’s a cool lineage,” said Claremont athletic director Darren Reisig, also a Mann Cup champion former Shamrocks player in the Western Lacrosse Association and pro in the National Lacrosse League.
“The extra special aspect of this recruitment class are the ties to the Shamrocks of these three players as their fathers are ’Rocks alumni and Mann Cup winners from the 1990s.” ....

WLA Announces Summer 2021 Schedule

Ten months after cancelling its 2020 season, the Western Lacrosse Association announced today it will hold a shortened, 12-game regular season for its teams starting at the end of June and running through the end of July, with playoffs scheduled for August.
As well, although plans are being reviewed on an ongoing basis in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and nation-wide vaccine rollout, the WLA and its Ontario counterpart, Major Series Lacrosse (MSL), are tentatively planning to hold the 2021 Mann Cup national championship in Ontario starting Sept. 10.
“The health and safety of all participants in the B.C. lacrosse community is of the utmost importance to the WLA and we will be carefully following all applicable public health orders and best practices as we move toward the 2021 season,” said WLA commissioner Paul Dal Monte. ....
