County building starting to be updated

LAGRANGE â Telling the commissioners Monday morning that people keep forgetting that the LaGrange County Office Building is more than 37 years old, Gary Mast, the countyâs maintenance supervisor started outlining the upgrades he hopes to make in the structure.
âItâs time to start thinking about a facelift, inside and out,â he told the commissioners.
Mast made the comments during the commissionersâ regular meeting. He sought the commissionerâs approval to replace some carpeting in one of the buildingâs upstairs offices. That carpet represents the last piece of original carpeting still left on the buildingâs second-floor building. Mast got permission to have Quality Flooring, a Topeka vendor, replace and install new carpeting in that office for just over $4,000. ....

Noble, Steuben counties gain yellow ratings
INDIANAPOLIS â For the first time since the end of October, Noble and Steuben counties have made it back to a yellow rating for âmoderateâ spread of COVID-19, as the state continues to see weekly improvement.
LaGrange and DeKalb counties also showed improvement, but not quite enough to get to a lower grade yet. Both stayed in orange but also saw some improvement in their metrics.
The improvement locally matches improvement statewide as now close to a third of all 92 counties are in yellow across the state, which also hasnât happened since the end of October. ....

LaGrange County Republicans to pick new commisioner

LAGRANGE â Candidates interested in filling the open LaGrange County Board of Commissioners South District seat have until today at 6 p.m. to file the required paperwork with Pat Brown, chairman of the LaGrange County Republican Party.
The party will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers in the LaGrange County Office Building to hold a party caucus. There the party will select the next person to fill the south district commissionerâs seat on the countyâs board of commissioners. That seat became open in early January when former LaGrange County Commissioner Larry Miller died at his home. ....

Arc seeks state funding to purchase technology to help its clients stay in touch

LAGRANGE â The Arc of LaGrange County is waiting to hear if the state will approve a grant that will help them provide a bit of modern technology to their clients, to help them better stay in contact with loved ones.
The organization held a public hearing Friday morning in the Commissioners Chambers of the LaGrange County Office Building as it works with Region 3-A to secure more than $100,000 in funding from the stateâs Office of Community and Rural Affairs to purchase iPads equipped with keyboards and money to fund internet access as it works to help clients stay in touch with family and friends. ....
