Noble, Steuben counties gain yellow ratings
INDIANAPOLIS — For the first time since the end of October, Noble and Steuben counties have made it back to a yellow rating for “moderate” spread of COVID-19, as the state continues to see weekly improvement.
LaGrange and DeKalb counties also showed improvement, but not quite enough to get to a lower grade yet. Both stayed in orange but also saw some improvement in their metrics.
The improvement locally matches improvement statewide as now close to a third of all 92 counties are in yellow across the state, which also hasn’t happened since the end of October. ....

LaGrange County Republicans to pick new commisioner


LAGRANGE — Candidates interested in filling the open LaGrange County Board of Commissioners South District seat have until today at 6 p.m. to file the required paperwork with Pat Brown, chairman of the LaGrange County Republican Party.
The party will meet Monday at 6 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers in the LaGrange County Office Building to hold a party caucus. There the party will select the next person to fill the south district commissioner’s seat on the county’s board of commissioners. That seat became open in early January when former LaGrange County Commissioner Larry Miller died at his home. ....

Commissioner Larry Miller dies


LAGRANGE — The flags outside the LaGrange County Office Building, home of the LaGrange County Commissioners, flew at half-staff Thursday in honor of one of their own.
Those flags, as well as the flags flown outside of the LaGrange County Courthouse, the LaGrange County Justice Building, and the LaGrange County Sheriff’s office were all lowered late Wednesday afternoon in honor of LaGrange County Commissioner Larry Miller, who died at his home on Wednesday.
Miller, 69, was recovering from a serious case of COVID-19 that hospitalized him for nearly two months.
He had recently returned home and been back to attending public meetings virtually before his death this week. ....

Glick to take over LaGrange County Prosecutor's Office


LAGRANGE — Travis Glick has been nominated by the LaGrange County Republican Party to fill the soon to be vacant job of LaGrange County Prosecutor.
Glick was nominated Tuesday night to fill the final two years of the prosecutor’s term in office by a caucus of Republican precinct committee members.
Glick, 38, had served as the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s office chief deputy. He will replace Greg Kenner, the current LaGrange County Prosecutor who will retire at the end of this year. Kenner has two years left on his current term, and nominated Glick, saying Glick was the right person to take over as the county’s prosecutor. ....
