Justice Rohit Arya passed the order in light of the Supreme Court judgement on February 5, granting bail to Faruqui, according to Bar and Bench. Then on February 12, bail was granted to two other co-accused in the case, Prakhar Vyas and Edwin Anthony. After Friday’s verdict, all accused who were put in custody on January 1, have been allowed bail. ....

The Supreme Court will on Friday hear the plea filed by stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, challenging the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s January 28 order denying him bail, reported Live Law. The comedian is accused of insulting Hindu deities during a show. Faruqui has also filed a writ petition against the Madhya Pradesh Police’s first information report. Both these petitions will be jointly considered by a bench of Justices RF Nariman and BR Gavai. Faruqui has been in jail since January 1 for his alleged comments, even though the police have said there was no electronic evidence and that the complaint was filed based on hearsay. ....

Faruqui was arrested for allegedly insulting Hindu deities during a show, despite the police admitting they have no evidence. The comedian remains in jail since January 1, having been denied bail thrice by the courts. The virtual comedy show, titled “The Right to Laugh”, is being organised by Reclaiming India on Saturday at 10.30 pm. The performers will include Myesha Chowdury, Sai D, Abby Govindan, Pallavi Gunalan, Apoorva Gundeti, Masood Haque, Rishi Mahesh, Yamini Nambimadom, and Amar Risbud, according to a statement. ....
