LOGAN Neemias Queta s time at Utah State won t be considered anything but a success.
The 7-footer from Barreiro, Portugal, left school after his junior year as the program s all-time leader with 219 blocked shots, a pair of Mountain West Tournament titles, and three NCAA Tournament bids (with one canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic).
Queta s next stop: the NBA.
Queta was drafted in the second round of Thursday s 2021 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings, becoming the second consecutive draft pick from Utah State after the Milwaukee Bucks took Bountiful product Sam Merrill with the final pick in last year s draft. The Kings took him with the 39th overall pick. ....

Rollie Worster isn’t bringing the beard he sported his freshman season at Utah State with him to the University of Utah.
Nor is the former Aggie going to wear No. 24 on his jersey, because that number belonged to Andre Miller and was retired in February 2000. Worster will wear No. 25, a number worn by his uncle, former Weber State standout Randy Worster, who was named a member of WSU’s 50th anniversary team in 2013. ....

Aggies add former Utah commit Norbert Thelissen in Odom's first year


LOGAN Another former Utah commit is heading to Logan.
Norbert Thellisen, who signed with the Runnin Utes basketball program a year ago before deferring play during the 2020-21 season, will now enroll at Utah State and head to Logan in time for the 2021-22 season, head coach Ryan Odom announced Tuesday.
We are extremely excited about the addition of Norbert to our program, Odom said. Norbert is a versatile forward with major potential and his game fits our style of play.
A native of Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, Thelissen most recently played for Heroes Den Bosch s U-22 squad, appearing in 19 games scattered over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. He also represented his home country at the Division B FIBA U20 European Championships in Portugal during the summer of 2019, where he averaged 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. ....

Runnin' Utes Bolster Roster with Addition of Holt

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah head men s basketball coach Craig Smith bolsters his roster with the addition of recent NJCAA National Champion Bostyn Holt for the upcoming season.
 
Holt is the fifth newest member of the Runnin Utes program, joining Gabe Madsen, David Jenkins Jr, Rollie Worster and Marco Anthony.
 
We are thrilled Bostyn will be joining the Runnin Utes basketball family, said Smith. Bostyn is a winner. He understands winning and will do whatever it takes to win. Bostyn is also a versatile player that brings a great combination of skills and athleticism to our team.
 
The 6-7 forward comes to Salt Lake City after spending the past two season at Coffeyville Community College, where he helped lead the Ravens to their second national championship ever on top of winning the league title. Coffeyville finished with a 27-3 overall record and 18-2 mark in KJCCC action and also finished the year winning nine of its last 10 games � ....
