ROMEO, Mich. – Driving down the main streets in Romeo and you’ll see signs that read “Let’s go Rachel Mac.”
The 16-year-old Romeo High School student is putting the town on the map as a contestant on “The Voice,” and they couldn’t be more excited for her.
“It’s up all over town at restaurants, local restaurants, fast food places. All you see is all about Rachel Mac,” said Amber Fountain, guidance counselor at Romeo High.

“It was the best thing ever walking through that bulldog. We had the music going,” said Baily, a student.
Rick Boggio, an academy coach at Romeo High School also said Monday felt like the first day of school.
“It is the first day that we have brought both groups of our students,” said Boggio.
The high school operates with a learning system called the Academies at Romeo in which students decide on an area of interest and attend micro-and macro-focused learning that gives real world experience in their area of interest.
Still in keeping with safety precautions, students, Logan Wenz and William Gilbert in the high school video production academy took on inside news gathering as they became our eyes, ears, and video production crew as their first day back assignment.
This is probably the last thing you want to have to worry about when in school. Some stranger walking into a high school with a deadly weapon. This is exactly why there s more strict laws in regards to how you enter a school and the ability to just walk in. This recently happened at Michigan s Romeo High School. An investigation is under way after a man was seen sitting in his car outside of Romeo High for at least an hour, before walking into the school with a machete concealed under his jacket.
Channel 7 reports that the police don t think there is any evidence that the person wanted to hurt anyone in the building, so it was determined that there was no reason to be afraid to be at the school, and was safe to be in. Principal Bernie Osebold said they confronted the man and was asked to leave since he didn t have a good reason to be in the school. Police arrived shortly after to discover the weapon and a bag in his possession, shortly before arresting him.
