[email protected] BROOKFIELD Township officials are reviewing options on whether to add a new pavilion and a recreational walking trail for the township park. Road supervisor Jamie Fredenburg told the board at a recent trustees meeting about seeking available state grants for a new 30-by-50-foot open pavilion at a cost of $70,000. He said two options are being considered for a recreational trail. One would cost $153,000 for a 3,300-foot-long, 10-foot-wide trail from the parking lot to the north end of the park property line and back through the woods. The second option is a trail going around the perimeter of the park above playing field one, at 5,330 feet long and $245,000. ....
[email protected] BROOKFIELD Township officials in Brookfield, Hartford and Vienna are planning a senior center at the Brookfield fire department banquet hall and are seeking involvement from local school students to interact with senior citizens. Brookfield township trustees at a recent Zoom meeting spoke with superintendents from Brookfield, Joseph Badger and Mathews schools about how the schools and students will be able to interact in the future for multigenerational events and activities. Trustee Gary Lees said a senior center is being planned and will be open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays at the fire hall for seniors from Brookfield, Hartford and Vienna. Officials are seeking grant funding. ....
[email protected] BROOKFIELD Trustee Dan Suttles said when he learned a snow plow truck mirror was broken off after it hit a basketball hoop by the road, he thought it must be an isolated incident until he learned 19 locations in the township had hoops at the side of or on the road. Suttles told trustees at their year-end meeting Monday that the snow plow drivers are having issues getting around the basketball hoops when they plow. “The mirror on one truck was damaged because the mirror lines up right where the hoop is. Residents need to remove them from the road or at least turn them around so the hoops are not at the street side,” Suttles said. “I really thought there was one or two places where this was a problem until they told me there were 19. I didn’t realize there were that many in the township.” ....
