`Charlie did everything': Longtime woodwork instructor from Stoughton dies at 88

Titi Ngwenya Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts Boston lost an old-style leader in manual arts on March 28 with the death of Charlie Sandler, who lived in Stoughton for more than 50 years. He was 88.   A man with a “heart of gold,” Sandler stewarded the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts in Boston as a center for woodworking, sewing and other crafts through more than a half century, all while supporting vocational education in Boston’s public schools. Scout Envisions a More Majestic Roxbury Christmas Tree

April 27, 2021 at 8:01 PM ROXBURY, NJ A Roxbury Boy Scout thinks the township needs a better Christmas tree, and he’s raising money to make it happen. As his Eagle Scout project, Tyler Benedetto is hoping to install at the Roxbury Recreation Center a 24-foot-tall Norway spruce and a decorative wall. The project will cost about $7,000, an amount that includes tools and supplies, according to the 15-year-old member of Boy Scout Troop 159 of Succasunna. The new tree would replace the 12-foot-tall tree at the Eyland Avenue site. Benedetto said the 4-foot-high, double-sided wall he wants to build around the tree would serve as a seat and a place for taking holiday photos.
