Tarentum voters will have a choice for borough mayor in November. Former borough police Officer Robert Lang, who lost the Democratic primary in May to current Councilwoman Carrie Fox, won the Republican nomination as a write-in. Lang, a registered Democrat, said he will accept the Republican nomination but otherwise declined to comment. The Democratic primary was a three-way race among Fox, Lang and incumbent Eric Carter. Fox won with 160 votes, Lang was second with 144, and Carter came in third with 61 votes, according to official Allegheny County election results. On the Republican ballot, more voters cast write-ins 144 in total than who voted for the unopposed Republican candidate, Stephanie Adams. Lang received 86 write-in votes, besting the 50 votes for Adams. ....

A former Tarentum councilman was the only qualified candidate to fill a vacant seat on borough council, officials said. Raymond Kerr, 70, was appointed Tuesday to replace Erika Josefoski as one of two council members representing the borough’s 1st Ward. Mayor Eric Carter swore Kerr into office that night. “We’re all excited and eager to get to know you and work with you,” council President Scott Dadowski said. Josefoski, 36, announced her resignation in December, and it took effect Dec. 31. She was elected to a four-year term in 2019. ....
Tarentum will accept applications for a soon-to-be vacant seat on borough council until Jan. 4. Council on Tuesday accepted the resignation of 1st Ward Councilwoman Erika Josefoski. Her resignation is effective Dec. 31. Josefoski, 36, announced her intention to resign earlier this month. She said she did not have enough time to devote to council duties while also juggling multiple jobs and homeschooling while Highlands students are fully remote because of the covid-19 pandemic. Josefoski said she also was considering moving closer to her work. While council voted just Tuesday to advertise for letters of interest for the seat, the borough already has one candidate, former Councilman Raymond Kerr. ....
