Tarentum Councilwoman Carrie Fox has won the Democratic nomination to run for mayor in November, according to unofficial primary results. But who won the Republican nomination could not be immediately determined because there were so many write-in votes. On the Democratic side, Fox collected 43.4% of the votes counted in all five precincts, compared with 39.1% for retired borough police officer Robert Lang and 16.5% for incumbent Mayor Eric Carter. ....
Tarentum will accept applications for a soon-to-be vacant seat on borough council until Jan. 4. Council on Tuesday accepted the resignation of 1st Ward Councilwoman Erika Josefoski. Her resignation is effective Dec. 31. Josefoski, 36, announced her intention to resign earlier this month. She said she did not have enough time to devote to council duties while also juggling multiple jobs and homeschooling while Highlands students are fully remote because of the covid-19 pandemic. Josefoski said she also was considering moving closer to her work.
