Chipotle's Debt-Free Degree Program Gets a Major Upgrade


After 120 days of employment, workers can pursue degrees from a host of options.
As sales continue to recover, restaurants are hurrying to bolster their employee-value proposition in anticipation of what promises to be a hiring rush. And a challenging one at that. Joblist reported nearly 30 percent of hospitality workers are considering bolting for other sectors after spending months unemployed or mired in uncertainty.
So strengthening incentives, in addition to pay perhaps, is going to be a frequent theme in the coming months. Chipotle Thursday announced its latest push, building on one of its biggest perks from 2019.
The fast casual said it will now offer debt-free degrees in Agriculture, Culinary, and Hospitality to all eligible employees through a partnership with Guild Education. ....

$10 million grant program considered for Oregon meat processors


SALEM — Oregon meat processors could vie for $10 million in grants under a bill that seeks to build on a state inspection program authorized last year.
House Bill 2785 would create a grant program overseen by the state’s Department of Agriculture to invest in constructing, expanding and upgrading meat processing facilities.
The proposal aims to help meat processors who’d operate under the ODA’s state inspection program, which would regulate these facilities for in-state commercial meat sales.
Once the state inspection program is fully functional and approved by the federal government, meat from these facilities could also be sold in interstate commerce. ....
