The family of Doreen Makarenko have chosen the Fairview Health Complex Foundation to receive and manage this new ongoing scholarship fund.. The $1000 annual scholarship is open to students in the Peace region who are continuing their post-secondary education in a health care related program. Doreen enjoyed a 30 year nursing career in Fairview at the Fairview Hospital, as Matron of the Fairview Nursing Home (now Long Term Care) and later as a Home Care nurse. She was the Chairperson of the Fairview Hospital Board while it was its own entity before amalgamations. She was always interested in promoting and supporting our community and health care here in Fairview. ....
